Eman Single – Van Dusen
This is my favorite refurb story of 2014 (so far!).
The owner of the boat is E-Man from the Potomac Boat Club out of Washington, DC. He found this 1987 Van Dusen single several years ago and did some refurbishing of his own over the last 5 years. When he heard about Finish Line and what we can do, he contacted us asking for a quote to repaint his hull and replace the decking. The boat came in and the paint job was sub par – lots of faded areas, beat up on the edges – the boat looked like it has been rowed and rowed aggressively by a great rower.
BTW – E-Man is a fantastic rower and a great competitor. He competed in every age category possible at Masters Nationals in 2013 and wiped the floor with some seriously fast rowers.
We had 5 different people work on this boat over a 3 week period. Our painter Andy had the boat in the booth and began work at the beginning of 2014. Just last week the boat was completed and I had a chance to walk through it. Perfection. Absolute perfection. We turned a 1987 Van Dusen into a brand new 2014 shell. I wager anyone to walk through the boat and spot an imperfection.
What made the completion even better…the day the boat was completed, E-man drove up to Baltimore to pick up the shell and without hesitation drove straight to Potomac Boat Club to take her for a spin.
Happy customer = Happy Finish Line!
Great work to the guys at Finish Line Shell Repair.
